Trekking Laguna Esmeralda (Esmerald Lagoon) - Ushuaia, Argentina

Laguna Esmeralda (Emerald Lagoon) - Ushuaia, Argentina.

Laguna Esmeralda is an amazing place, color lives up to its name. Forests, mountains and glacier surrounding make it a place worth visiting.

It's the "must see" or unmissable places near Ushuaia. Worth it.

Laguna Esmeralda is located on the Tierra Mayor Valley, next to Bonete mount  in the Massif of Alvear, just 20 km from Ushuaia by Route 3.

To reach the lagoon we must go by Route 3 north from Ushuaia to about 100 meters before the entrance to the Valle de Lobos tourist complex (Wolves Valley). Between 18 and 20 km from Ushuaia.

Just before the entrance to the “Valle de Lobos” there is a place on the side of the road where you can leave your car and you will see a sign that says "Laguna Esmeralda" indicating the path to follow.

In winter season it is recommended to be prepared for deep snow, bring snowshoes as according to snowfall can vary the depth of this.

Total distance (round trip) is 9 km (5.6 mi), which can be reached in a little over 2 hours of walking (one way).

We hope you enjoy it.
